(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 27 LUG - With an archaeological journey through prehistory between Trieste and Slovenian Karst, the Archaeology in the Evening 2023 festival will kick off on August 1 in Trieste. The theme chosen for the ninth edition is "No Border Archaeology," given Nova Gorica-Gorizia European Capital of Culture 2025.
    The initiative, promoted by the Museum of Antiquities J.J.
    Winckelmann, is part of the Trieste Summer program.
    The events are scheduled for Tuesday evenings in August in the museum garden. The starting point - the curators explained during a meeting - will be the museum's finds from the prehistoric and protohistoric collections from the area: Karst of Trieste and Isonzo, Istria, and in particular from the necropolis of Santa Lucia at Tolmin.
    In addition to the presentation of the materials, three educational documentaries will be screened. Musical happenings, which will close the evenings, have been entrusted to the instrumental group - association Lumen Harmonicum from Trieste.
    On August 1, the film "The Museum of Surprises. Journey into Prehistory with Carlo Marchesetti" will be screened. The journey will continue on Tuesday, August 8, with a meeting on "Castellieri del Carso: protohistoric villages between the Adriatic and Central and Eastern Europe. Rediscovering protohistoric fortresses." On August 15, the film "Hema. A History of castellieri" will be screened in the Italian version with Slovenian subtitles.
    The theme of the fourth evening will be the end of the long life of Protohistoric settlements and the arrival of the Roman army with the film "Castellieri Adriatic Fortresses. The Roman Conquest of Istria." Finally, the last evening will focus on "The Necropolis of Santa Lucia at Tolmino: Reference points in Carlo Marchesetti's land planimetry." (ANSA).
