Over half of Greece's faculties
have been occupied in protest of the government's plan to
institutionalise non-state higher education institutions,
according to the daily Kathimerini. University authorities
insist that classes begin immediately, with growing concern
about the loss of exam periods. On Monday, the rectors assembly
condemned the occupations, which are expected to continue until
the reform bill is passed. New rallies have been scheduled for
Thursday.
