(ANSA) - VILNIUS, SEP 27 - The Estonian government is opposed to the European Commission's proposal to adopt a cap on the earnings of companies that produce energy from renewable sources and introduce a tax on the extra-profits of energy companies.

The deputy secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Timo Tatar, underlined that the government supports "alternative solutions" such as energy saving and consumption management. "Limiting consumption during peak hours is a source of savings and helps to decrease tariffs in the market quickly," Tatar added. (ANSA).
