The risk of creating a 'new Chernobyl'
must be averted at the Russia-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear
power plant in eastern Ukraine where Moscow has accused Kyiv of
launching very dangerous drone attacks, Foreign Minister Antonio
Tajani said Monday.
"I'm worried by the ongoing war," said Tajani, who is also
deputy premier, answering questions on the attacks.
"We have always said this: a free zone must be created around
Zaporizhzhia.
"The nuclear power plant represents an opportunity, bu also a
risk. It is well and good that the forces on the field should
not fight around or inside the plant, we must avert another
Chernobyl.
"Let's hope that in any case common sense will prevail."
