The government appealed to the
regional adminstrative court of Emilia-Romagna on April 12
against the northern region's move towards approving assisted
suicide in line with a recent sentence from the Constitutional
Court, the centre right post Berlusconi Forza Italia party said
Thursday.
Alessandro Zan, a centre-left opposition Democratic Party (PD)
MP who campaigns for gay and human rights, said: "The
government's appeal against the Emilia Romagna government's
deliberations that applied the Constitutional Court's sentence
shows all the ideological fury of this Right against people's
rights.
"Not only do they not heed the cry of pain from so many people
and families that demand freedom and dignity up till the end,
but they also rail against the precise indications of the
Constitutional Court".
