Alvisopoli-Portogruaro. Strategic in the Mediterranean Corridor

The first 5 kilometers of the three-lane section between Alvisopoli and Portogruaro on the A4 of the Upper Adriatic freeway (formerly Autovie Venete) have been opened to traffic. The works were completed before the great summer exodus "to ensure the fluidity and safety of the transits of vacationers heading to the seaside resorts of Fvg and Veneto, which from today in the section between Quarto d'Altino to the Palmanova Node will have 55 total kilometers of third lane," reports a note from Autostrade Alto Adriatico.
With 24 works (7 underpasses, 9 box culverts, 5 overpasses and 3 bridges), the first sub-lot of the second lot is one of the most complex worksites among those of the third lane of the A4: developed over 8.5 kilometers, it includes widening of the highway seat, demolition and complete reconstruction of all works of art (bridges, underpasses, overpasses, hydraulic crossings) and, among other things, soundproofing barriers and planting of trees for carbon dioxide absorption. All the works are also already prepared to accommodate a possible future fourth lane. In nearly three and a half years of construction, the stretch has been closed only 48 times, mostly during weekend nights.
The remaining 3.5 kilometers of the Alvisopoli - Portogruaro (from the Fratta rest areas to the Portogruaro Node) will be completed in the fall; a section made even more complicated because the highway seat rises over the existing one by as much as three meters.
Gabriele Fava, newly appointed president of Autostrade Alto Adriatico, called the third lane of the A4 highway "a strategic work in the Mediterranean Corridor," an "important logistics hub for the movement of people and goods nationally and internationally"; it is "a complex work."
