Tourism investment is set to boom on the Adriatic coast

Investments launched or planned in infrastructure dedicated to sea-borne tourism on the Adriatic coast in 2023-25 amount to more than 416 million euros. The estimate came from Risposte Turismo and is contained in the Adriatic Sea Tourism Report presented in Dubrovnik, Croatia, on the opening day of the sixth edition of the Adriatic Sea Forum.

According to the survey, the cruise and ferry sectors will benefit most from new investments in the current three-year period, around 210 million euros.

Among the most important investments is the new Marghera terminal in Venice, the one in Igoumenitsa, the new maritime station at Porto Corsini in Ravenna, the second naval station in the port of Bari, and the first marine station in Split.

Risposte Turismo mapped out more than 206 million euros in investments for the boating sector, including at least 182 million euros for constructing new marinas and 24 million euros for expanding existing facilities, including Marina Polesana and Marina Korkyra.

Flagship projects include Vlora Marina in Albania and Marina Porto Baros in Rijeka, Croatia. Analysts' estimates are also optimistic for ferries (+7.9% passengers handled) and especially for cruises: by the end of 2023, passengers will rise to 4.5 million (+29.3%) in the 32 cruise ports of the Adriatic Sea, up 29.3% compared with 2022, totaling 3,000 cruise ships (+3.9%).
