construction Indias and Asias longest bi-directional tunnel in
Zojila, east of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian Kashmir,
25 September 2022. Work on the Zojila Tunnel at a height of
11,575 feet above the sea level in Sonamarg area of Ganderbal
district is underway and according to project managers working
on its construction, the tunnel would be completed few months
ahead of the set deadline of 2026.Together with the adjacent
Z-Morh Tunnel, the strategically important Zojila Tunnel on the
Srinagar-Leh Highway would provide year round all-weather
connectivity between Kashmir and cold desert region of Ladakh
besides reducing the earlier 4 hours travel time to just 40
