Hundreds of athletes for second day of sports review

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 02 OTT - The great celebration of the Barcolana Young, with the victory of Alberto Avanzini (Juniores) and Nicolò Santoro (Cadets), an epic edition of the Barcolana Nuota, with 240 cross-country swimming enthusiasts and the presence of the Paralympic Sports Group of the Ministry of Defense, the party in Piazza Unità with the opening of the first part of Barcolana village, and the enthusiasm of the young influencers of Stardust - who for two days had the task of narrating the start of the event and were surrounded by hundreds of very young fans - characterized the first weekend of Barcolana in Trieste.

For Barcolana Young after three races today and more three yesterday, in the Juniores class won Alberto Avanzini of Garda (Centro Nautico Bardolino). First woman is Zala Sterni of Tpk Sirena. Among the Cadets, Nicolò Santoro of the Società Triestina della Vela won; first woman was the Ukrainian Ahnieshka Madonich. Big celebration in the evening with the awards ceremony at Pier IV, with sponsor Fondazione CRTrieste.

"It was an extraordinary event," said Alessandro Bonifacio, SVBG youth sports director, "Two hundred boats in the water and a very high level: many athletes of international level.

A total of 240 participants took part in the VII Barcolana Nuota - a cross-country swimming race organized by the Barcolana and Triestina Nuoto with a new course and turn in front of the royal staircase. He won, as in 2021, Marco Urbani (Circolo Tommasi Trieste); first woman was Sara Rummolo (Pallanuoto Trieste). A delegation from the Ministry of Defense Paralympic Sports Group also participated: military athletes with disabilities, led by the former commander of the Trieste harbor master's office, Rear Admiral Luca Sancilio.

Mitja Gialuz, SVBG president, spoke of "an exciting one-kilometer swim." Barcolana has opened its own Tik Tok channel thanks to a partnership between Stardust, a reality that generates creative content, and Barcolana54 Presented by Generali. The partnership is allowing Barcolana to open up to a younger audience and to preside over the social Tik Tok, where it "debuted" these days.
