Sarajevo among the most polluted cities in the world

Other capitals in the Balkans share the same problem

06 December, 09:41
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, DEC 6 - Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital, experienced high levels of pollution in recent weeks.

With an AQI (Air Quality Index) of 163, which is classified as 'unhealthy,' the Bosnian capital was among the most polluted cities in the world on December 3, ranking sixth. Other cities in the area, like Belgrade, Skopje, and Pristina, have had high levels of pollution for decades. This is because coal is used to make electricity and heat homes, and old cars add to the problem. (ANSA).
