(ANSA) - BELGRADE, NOV 30 - The EU took an important step
toward visa liberalization for Kosovo, Europe's only state
without free movement. The ambassadors of EU member states
approved the Council's negotiating mandate on a visa-free regime
for holders of Kosovo passports today. On the basis of this
mandate, the Czech Republic's presidency of the EU Council will
begin negotiations with the European Parliament. The new rules
would allow Kosovo passport holders to visit EU countries
without a visa for 90 days in any 180-day period. According to
the Council's position, the visa waiver would be effective
beginning with the launch of the European Travel Information and
Authorization System (ETIAS) on 1 January 2024. (ANSA).
