Croatian customers have been
keeping store owners in the Slovenian town of Brezice busy in
the first month of the new year, according to the Slovenian news
agency STA. Croatia, which joined the eurozone on January 1, has
seen significant increases in the prices of several products
since then. People from Zagreb travel to Brezice to buy cheaper
groceries and other products that are not available or are
significantly more expensive in Croatia, with some claiming to
save more than 100 euros per full shopping cart by purchasing in
Slovenia, according to STA. The majority of shoppers purchase
staple foods such as flour, pasta, coffee, dairy products, and
other groceries.
