16 September, 17:31
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 16 SET - The western part of Slovenia, close to the border with Italy, has been colored in dark red on the map that the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) updated today.

The European areas in dark red have the highest rate of Covid infections, equal to or more than 500 cases in the last two weeks. Western Slovenia, like the rest of the country, was colored red until today. Only parts of southern France bordering Italy and the northwestern part of Ireland are currently dark red at the EU level. Ljubljana recorded 1,324 new infections and seven deaths from Covid on Wednesday, local authorities informed today.

There are currently almost 12,000 positive cases, 341 hospitalized persons, and 82 patients in intensive care. So far in Slovenia, the vaccinated are just over 45% of the entire population. (ANSA).
