(ANSA) - BRUXELLES, 15 GEN - The European Union warned Bosnia-Herzegovina over the humanitarian crisis in the northwest of the country, where nearly 2,500 refugees are currently living in extremely precarious conditions. "If Bosnia-Herzegovina is unable to meet the EU's demands" and "international obligations" to resolve the crisis in the Lipa camp, "there will be consequences" also with regard to the country's "aspiration" to join the EU, the spokesperson of the EU Commission for foreign policy, Peter Stano, said today Migrants "are trapped in this situation which is largely due to the inability of" national "authorities to implement the necessary decisions and to respect their commitments", Stano warned, underlining that "the whole issue is already negatively affecting the image of Bosnia-Herzegovina "and that there may be concrete reactions and steps" against Sarajevo by the EU if the situation is not urgently resolved.

The issue is "the subject of a very intense discussion in Brussels, in the EU capitals and on the ground", added the spokesperson. (ANSA).
