(ANSA) - TRIESTE, AUG 25 - Hundreds of "vespisti," Vespa fans, will flock to Trieste starting tomorrow for the 21st "International Vespa Rally," organized in the FVG capital by the "Vespa Club Gatti randagi" of Trieste.

The meeting, suspended for two years due to the pandemic, is expected to be attended this year by Vespa riders from all over Italy and neighboring Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, and Central Europe.

The gathering opens tomorrow, lasts until August 28, and has the sports field in Trebiciano (Trieste) as its primary site. In addition to a place equipped for Vespa riders, the program includes excursions in the Trieste area and on the Karst, food and wine booths, and concerts.

According to the official website, the Vespa Club Trieste was founded in 1948 under the leadership of president Ovidio Opiglia and vice-president Ferruccio Miletta. In the same year, numerous Vespa riders from Trieste took part in the famous "silver swarm" in Milan. In 1989, Lorenzo Fragiacomo and Mario Cesanelli founded the "Stray Cats" section. (ANSA).
