(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, NOV 22 - "We know that the EU pays very high gas prices,' and although prices have fallen, 'we remain exposed to speculative dynamics' on the energy costs. 'Ours is not a regulatory intervention to fix the gas price but a mechanism of last resort that comes into force" under certain conditions and at any rate "when the default gas price exceeds 275 euros per megawatt hour for two weeks." So the EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson said while announcing the new legislative proposal on the price cap. The cap set in the proposal then is 275 euros per megawatt hour according to the TTF index. (ANSA).
