After exclusion Russian violinists to compete in Gorizia

Organisers change their decision, major welcomes it

(ANSA) - GORIZIA, JUN 24 - At the 41st Rodolfo Lipizer international violin prize, scheduled for September in Gorizia, there will be musicians of every nationality, including Russians. The organization announced this decision, and explained that, for this reason, the enrolment deadline had been extended to June 30.

In recent weeks, the association, the namesake of the award, had decided to exclude three Russian musicians, which sparked a political row.

"Only those who do not work do not make mistakes," said Gorizia Mayor Rodolfo Ziberna. He was among the fiercest opponents of the exclusion but tried to lighten up the situation. "I take account of this change of mind, which does justice to the organization. I congratulate them on being able to retrace their steps." (ANSA).
