Slovenia: policemen in a go-slow protest

Focus on salary increases, promotions, career shots

11 January, 20:14
(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 11 GEN - LJUBLJANA, JANUARY 11 - The Slovenian Police Union (PSS), the country's policemen's main union, has launched a go-slow protest starting today to draw the government's attention to wage increases, promotions, and career shots.

The main goal is the achievement of a sectoral agreement for police officers. During the strike, which will last until the union reaches an agreement with the government, the police officers will reduce the work effort to a minimum while ensuring the safety of people and property, maintaining public order, including traffic control and the protection of state borders.

Interior Minister Ales Hojs said he wanted to meet the union representatives and underlined that the policemen's working conditions are fair and that the government in office respected the previous one's agreements. (ANSA).
