(ANSA) - KARPACZ, SEP 9 - "The idea of several neighboring
countries to assimilate Ukrainian refugees as quickly as
possible is not desirable, first because the assimilation
process is different from integration, then because it does not
take into account the particularity of forced migration: once
the risk has ceased, the Ukrainian population may wish to return
to their home country." Isabella Corvino, a sociology professor
at Perugia University, said on the sidelines of the panel,
"Unprecedented migration crisis: what future for refugees?" at
the 31st Karpacz Economic Forum in Poland. "There is a need,"
she explained, "for a change in approach from a mindset focused
on short-term goals to broader planning." (ANSA).
