Prime ministers' meeting, focus on 2023 Nato summit
09 December, 16:32During the meeting, the three premiers addressed the issue of aid to Ukraine and the management of refugees arriving from war zones, the creation of an International Tribunal for War Crimes in Ukraine, and the strengthening of the Eastern Front of the Atlantic Alliance as established at the Nato summit held in Madrid last summer.
Estonian Prime Minister Kallas remarked at a press conference that the price cap agreement for gas imports remains urgent "to stop the Russian war machine" and expressed confidence it is possible to reach an agreement with the European partners in January.
Mentioning the need to ensure the fastest possible rapprochement of Ukraine to North Atlantic structures, Lithuanian Prime Minister Šimonytė assured that the Nato summit scheduled for 2023 in Vilnius would address the issue. "It will be necessary to seek solutions that will make it possible to emphasize that the doors of Nato cannot but be open for those states that want to join it," Šimonytė said.
Also on the agenda were the issues of synchronizing power grids with Europe and speeding up work on constructing the 'Rail Baltica' link. (ANSA).
