(ANSA) - UDINE, 13 OTT - A roundup of works of video art,
spatial installation, photographic processing, gestural
painting, and durational performance, focusing on the historical
role of the Isonzo River. These works are on display in the
exhibition "B#Side The River," set up today at the former air
raid shelter in Piazza I Maggio, Udine, a symbolic place linked
to the history of World War II in the Friulian capital. The
exhibition, which is scheduled to open to the public tomorrow
and will remain on display until November 6, presents the works
created by the ten international guest artists of the festival
of the same name, B#Side the River, a project promoted by the
IoDeposito Association for Artistic and Cultural Promotion,
under the artistic direction of Chiara Isadora Artico. The event
took place over the summer across FVG, where artists hosted in
residence between the Isontino and Bassa Friulana were asked to
tell the stories of the Isonzo River through the participatory
practices of contemporary art, where the most innovative
languages merge with historical research, fueled by the
testimonies of those who live on the territory. At the opening
event tomorrow at the Anti-Aircraft Shelter in Piazza I Maggio
(the exhibition will then go on display in Trieste from 10 to
November 27), there will be a durational site-specific
performance by Andreja Kargačin, a young Serbian artist from
Novi Sad, and inspired by the history of the women of FVG
region. Other artists in the exhibition include Slovenian Đejmi
Hadrović, who lives and works in Egypt, Cambodian-born New
Zealander Lang Ea, Serbian artist Andreja Kargačin, Turkish
artist Gülhatun YÕldÕrÕm, Sweden's Ingrid Ogenstedt, Belgium's
Nathalie Vanheule, Italy's Marta Lodola, Slovenia's Boris Beja,
Canada's Holly Timpener, and the Netherlands' Deimion "Peim" van
