(ANSA) - BELGRADE, NOV 23 - Austria won't stop Croatia from
joining the Schengen area because the country "meets border
protection requirements in an exemplary way," Austrian
Chancellor Karl Nehammer told the Kleine Zeitung before his
official visit to Zagreb today, according to media in the
Balkans. "We hardly feel any migrant pressure from Croatia
towards the north" and "don't see any problem there," Nehammer
was quoted as saying. In recent days, Austrian Interior Minister
Gerhard Karner has sparked widespread concern in Croatia by
declaring his opposition to the expansion of the Schengen Area
to Croatia, Bulgaria, and Romania due to increased migration
flows. (ANSA).
