Croatia earthquake: new tremors in Petrinja, snow, and frost

The blue helmets of culture are arriving from Italy

11 January, 13:26
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 11 GEN - The seismic swarm continues in Croatia. It has never stopped since the violent 6.4 magnitude earthquake on December 29, which caused 7 deaths, around thirty injured, and enormous material damage. Regional media reported that a 3.1 earthquake was recorded at 9.35 am this morning in ;;Petrinja, the epicenter town, south-east of Zagreb, which was partially destroyed by the earthquake at the end of the year.

Shortly after midnight in the same area, there had been another 3,9 earthquake. There is no evidence of damage, but the whole area's situation remains complicated due to the weather conditions, which have worsened in recent days, with snow and frost.

Yesterday a mission of specialists, the so-called Blue Helmets of culture, left for Croatia from Italy. They will be verifying the damage suffered by the Croatian cultural heritage and assisting local managers in the restoration work. (ANSA).
