(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 19 DIC - TRIESTE, DECEMBER 19 - The "flash summit" between the foreign ministers of Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia, who have decided to postpone the issue relating to the EEZ in the Adriatic to a technical meeting to be held in Rome in mid-January. Therefore, today's summit in Trieste was a preliminary meeting that did not lead to the signing of any agreement.

Still no details on the meeting, also because Italy's Foreign Minister, Di Maio, left the Prefecture without making any statement, after a brief talk with his Croatian counterpart just before leaving the summit. So did Italian Minister for Economic Development, Stefano Patuanelli, who had previously left the conference and probably did not 'officially' attend the meeting.

Only the Slovenian minister met the journalists for a few minutes in Piazza Unità d'Italia. "Today, we reached a joint agreement here in Trieste, a trilateral joint statement. Anyway, we did not sign any documents. Now the issue will continue through purely technical channels with the next meeting scheduled in Rome in mid-January," said Slovenian Foreign Minister Anze Logar. "The meeting - he added - took place in the spirit of a strong collaboration. We are delighted that the ministers, who work with a European spirit to carry on the dialogue, met to discuss together the issue of exclusive economic zones, and that they reached a common decision, on which a technical meeting is going to take place in Italy in mid-January." Finally, Logar recognized that Italy played an essential role in building dialogue between the three countries and organizing today's fruitful meeting. (ANSA).
