(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 09 OTT - Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced his resignation during a press conference at the Chancellery in Vienna, from the post on 09 October after The Austrian Economic and Corruption Prosecutor's Office (WKStA) has announced that it is investigating against him and nine other defendants on suspicion of embezzlement, bribery and corruption.

"I proposed to president Alexander Van der Bellen, Foreign minister Alexander Schallenberg as my successor", Kurz said.
