(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 6 - The Italian Open is set to boast an
especially strong field this year as it is taking place at Marco
Simone Golf & Country Club near Rome, which is also the venue
for next year's Ryder Cup.
"Lots of champions will take part in the Italian Open in order
to get acquainted with the Ryder Cup 2023 course," Italian Golf
Federation President Franco Chimenti told a news conference
presenting the tournament running September 15 to 18.
"We'll be at the centre of everything. It will be a crowning
moment".
Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) President Giovanni Malagò
echoed those sentiments.
"The 2023 is an event that gives us gigantic sporting prestige
at the global level," Malagò said.
"Today Italy is being talked about because of this great event.
"The Italian Open is the child of the bid (to host) the Ryder
Cup". (ANSA).
