(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 18 - Italy's Filippo Celli won the Silver
Medal at the Open at St. Andrews on Sunday by finishing five
under par to emerge as the tournament's best amateur.
The 21-year-old Roman is the first Italian to take the Silver
Medal since Matteo Manassero in 2009 and he joined the
illustrious company of other past winners, including Tiger Woods
(1996), Justin Rose (1998), Rory McIlroy (2007) and Matthew
Fitzpatrick (2013).
Celli had conquered the right to make his debut at a major by
winning the European Amateur Championship in Spain. (ANSA).
