Msgr Matteo Maria Zuppi, chair of the
Italian Bishops Conference (CEI), asked Wednesday "must we wait
for another atom bomb to repudiate war?"
"Repudiating war is something more than not using it, in
repudiation there is the choice that this is not the tool, and
those who wrote Article 11 of the (Italian) Constiution
(repudiating war) had seen the same images that today we see in
Ukraine," Zuppi said on the sidelines of a conference in Genoa.
"Must we wait for another atomic bomb to realize that war is
madness?
"Those who went through the war knew it, because they saw the
atom bomb and said that if there is a third world war it will be
the last one, but then you forget about it and think that all
will be well".
