French ace Romain Bardet, lying
fourth in the Giro's general classification just 14 seconds
behind leader Juan Pedro Lopez Perez, on Friday pulled out off
the tour of Italy with a tummy bug.
The 31-year-old climber, who finished second in the Tour de
France in 2016 and third the following year, withdrew before the
start of the 13th stage of the Giro, a 150km mountainous stretch
from Sanremo to Cuneo.
