Florence's Meyer Children's Hospital
has made a key breakthrough on a virus affecting very young
children which has put hospital capacity under severe strain
across Italy, sources said Friday.
Doctors at the Florentine hospital have come up with a single
molecular swab that quickly and at the same time detects the
presence of the coronavirus and also RSV, respiratory syncytial
virus, which hits the youngest.
"This is a small revolution which enables us to immediately
isolate postive cases", said the hospital.
