Italy is awaiting the outcome of
Sunday's general election, with polling stations open until
23:00.
The centre-right coalition, featuring Giorgia Meloni's Brothers
of Italy (FdI), Matteo Salvini's League and Silvio Berlusconi's
Forza Italia (FI), is tipped to win.
The other big bloc is the centre-left alliance led by ex-premier
Enrico Letta's Democratic Party (PD).
The 5-Star Movement (M5S) and the centrist 'Third Pole', made up
of ex-premier Matteo Renzi's Italia Viva and former industry
minister Carlo Calenda's Azione, are both running separately
from the big blocs.
At 19:00 the turnout for voting for the Lower House was 51.14%,
down from 58.40% at the same stage of the 2018 general election,
the interior ministry said.
