(ANSAmed) - ROME, DEC 7 - Egyptian Bologna University
student Patrick Zaki will be released from prison "even though
he has not been acquitted", lawyers told reporters, including an
ANSA journalist, at the end of a hearing in Mansoura on Tuesday.
It is still unclear at the moment whether Zaki , who has been
detained for 22 months, will be released Tuesday or over the
coming days.
The decision was announced after the third hearing of a trial
against the student on charges of instigating subversion.
The next hearing will be on February 1.
Amnesty International said it hoped Tuesday's ruling would be
the first step towards acquittal. (ANSAmed).
