Over nine million Italians will be
travelling over the 'bridge' long weekend that ends with
Liberation Day on Monday April 25, hotel group Federalberghi
said Thursday.
The precise number estimated by Federalberghi in a poll is 9.298
million.
Some 91.7% of those polled will stay in Italy while 8.3% will
travel abroad, the survey said.
The top destinations for those staying in Italy are art cities
(31.0%), the seaside (22.6%), and the mountains (19.8%).
As for foreign destinations, major European capitals led on
67.3%, followed by seaside resorts on 16.4%.
The preferred accommodation will be the hotel (34.1%), followed
by the homes of friends and relatives (22.5%, bed & breakfasts
(15.9%) and second homes (12.4%).
The long weekend will generate business worth some 4.33 billion
euros, Federalberghi said.
