(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 29 - The registration of both members of a
same-sex couple as the parents of a child is not an issue that
can be bargained over, Equal Opportunities and Family Minister
Eugenia Roccella said on Wednesday.
"There is no discussion to be had. There are laws and (there is)
a precise ruling. Mayors know what they can and cannot do," said
the minister.
Roccella added that those who continue with registration do so
"knowing that there is a ruling that they are not applying. It's
not something to bargain over," she added.
"The mayors are not protesting against the circular from
(Interior Minister Matteo) Piantedosi , but against a ruling by
the Supreme Court. If anything, they should have a discussion
with the president of the joint sections (of the court)," she
concluded. (ANSA).
