(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 25 - Italy can expect growth to be flat in
2023, with gross domestic product (GDP) forecast to rise by
0.4%, industrial association Confindustria said on Saturday.
This is "significantly slower than the 2022 average" but "better
than expected just a few months ago" when zero growth was
forecast, the Confindustria study center said.
The improvement is "related exclusively to better dynamics in
the second half of 2022" and, "excluding the drag effect, flat
growth is confirmed for this year," the industrial association
added.
Confindustria said the outlook for 2024 was more optimistic,
with a GDP growth forecast of 1.2% due to a "drop in inflation,
less restrictive monetary policy and an improvement in the
international environment". (ANSA).
