The government has already spent some
5.5 billion euros to contain energy costs and other measures may
be taken to stop energy hikes halting Italy's economic recovery
in its tracks, Economy Minister Daniele Franco said Thursday.
Framco said GDP growth last year should come out at around 6.5%
and consensus forecasts this year see the economy growing by
over 4%.
But he said the economic recovery was conditioned by the
continuation of the COVID pandemic, international tensions and
above all by higher energy costs.
