Croatia: Turkish Cengiz to be hired to modernize railway

403 million for project for link to Hungary

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 17 FEB - Croatia will sign 403-million-euro contract with the Turkish company Cengiz for revamping a 43 km railway section leading to the border with Hungary, the specialized portal SeeNews reported, quoting the Croatian Transport minister Oleg Butkovic. "The construction contract is going to be signed soon," Butkovic said.

The project includes the modernization and doubling of tracks between the Croatian towns of Krizevci and Koprivnica and represents the biggest railway infrastructure investment in Croatian's recent history, with 85% of the financing coming from the European Union, SeeNews informed. According to the portal, the project will also improve the railway connection from the border with Hungary to the port of Rijeka via Zagreb. (ANSA).
