Suspect in German shooting found dead at home

Signs of a xenophobic motive for the killings

20 February, 13:09
(ANSA-AFP) - BERLIN, FEBRUARY 20 - Suspect in two shootings in Germany that killed at least eight people was found dead at home, police said on Thursday. "The likely perpetrator was found dead at his home in Hanau. The police special intervention forces have also discovered another body there. The investigation is ongoing. Currently there is no indication there are other perpetrators," police in the central state of Hesse said on Twitter.

German counter-terror prosecutors said Thursday they had taken over the investigation into two linked shootings that left at least nine dead in the central city of Hanau, near the financial capital of Frankfurt. "Federal prosecutors have taken over because of the particular importance of the case," a spokesman told AFP, adding that "there are signs of a xenophobic motive" for the killings. (ANSA-AFP).
