(ANSA) - BERLIN, 18 JAN 18 - ''Italy and Germany are great
friends''. That is what Italy's president Sergio Mattarella said
at the Italian Embassy in Berlin, where he met some
representatives of the Italian community based in Germany.
''The relationship between Germany and Italy is significantly
strengthened by your presence in Germany'', he said, addressing
those who were attending the meeting. Mattarella underlined
''the relationship based on friendship, collaboration, and the
bonds of every kind, political, cultural, economic, tourist'',
that tie the two countries.
''In the Italian community - the president added addressing
teachers, researchers, scholars and representatives of the
economic and scientific world - this relationship finds the most
experienced, most authentic interpreters''.
''It's impossible for us to list all the profiles of our
Italian citizens who play an active role in Germany in different
fields and at different levels of commitment - the president
added -, because there is no sector of social and civil life,
which does not see here Italian presence. This attests to the
historic and strong link between these two countries''.
