(ANSA) - BERLIN, JULY 16 - Another aggression against a local
administrator occurred in Germany. Dieter Gummer, Social
Democrat, outgoing mayor of Hockenheim, south-eastern Germany,
was seriously injured in an attack in front of his house in
Boehl-Iggelheim last night. When the 67-year-old mayor of the
city, in his post since 2004 and about to leave by the end of
August, opened the front door, an unknown man punched him in the
face, knocking him to the ground and banging his head and
injuring him seriously. He is now hospitalized.
"We are investigating in all directions," said the police,
who at the moment do not know either the attacker's identity or
the reasons for his action. (ANSA).
