(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 20 MAR - The company Ford will invest 200 million euros in its Romanian plant in Craiova, with the aim of producing 250,000 cars annually on the local market, local media reported.

Last year, Ford built 150,000 cars and 300,000 engines in Craiova, climbing at the second place in the top of the largest exporters in Romania after the local carmaker Dacia, subsidiary of Renault, the portal Romania Insider reported. "Ford has transformed the Romanian plant into one of the most modern in Europe," said Andrew McCall, vice president of Ford Europe's government relations, quoted by Romanian media. "We are Romania's second-biggest exporter, and the story does not end here," McCall added.

The president of Ford Romania, Ian Pearson, stated that, in total, Ford invested almost 1.3 billion euros in Romania, Radio Romania International reported, adding that the company will hire another 1,700 people by the end of the year to reach a total number of 6,200 employees. (ANSA).
