(ANSA) - BELGRADE, DECEMBER 10 - The Budapest Airport, the operator of the Hungarian Liszt Ferenc International, aims at convincing Chinese partners to choose the Hungarian hub as a new Central and Eastern European logistic base, the specialized portal Budapest Business Journal reported today, quoting information from the Hungarian news agency MTI.

"Cargo City, the airportʼs new cargo handling base under construction, could help the development of a Chinese regional distribution base," the company said, as quoted on the portal.

In 2017, 700-million-dollar worth of Chinese cargo transited through the airport, MTI informed, adding that Budapest Airport processed 70,000 tons of cargo in the first half of 2018, up 15% from a year earlier. Cargo volume grew 39% over the past two years, reaching 127,000 tons in 2017. (ANSA).
