(ANSA) - UDINE, SEPT. 20 - The collaboration between the Austrian region of Carinthia and Slow Food International will become stronger through the creation of a new Slow Food Kärnten project. This initiative was announced on the occasion of the Terra Madre-Salone del Gusto 2018 event in Turin.

The collaboration between Slow Food and Carinthia took its first steps three years ago with the creation of the first Slow Food Travel destination in the world in the area between the Gailtal and Lesachtal valleys. The project now extends to the whole region by means of a tour package involving food and wine highlights, such as ancient recipes and sustainable food production.

The Slow Food Kärnten partner consortium aims to promote a healthy and 'conscious' food culture, using only local and seasonal products, which were made using traditional processes.

Many local producers are involved in the project, including bakers, butchers, farmers and owners of rustic trattorias. The project also includes a program of cooking classes, visits to craft workshops and other workshops where guests can prepare food and beverage according to tradition.(ANSA).
