Croatia: Institute of Economics, +3% growth in 2018

Slight deceleration to 2.9% in 2019

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 19 SET - The Croatian economy will grow with a projected rate of 3 percent in 2018, the Zagreb-based Institute of Economics (Eizg) said in its newest 'Croatian Economic Outlook'.

The Institute noted that the "steady growth" that started at the end of 2014 in Croatia is "confirmed by year-on-year growth figures for the first and second quarter" of 2018, 2.5 and 2.9 percent, respectively. The growth in Croatia is mainly driven by "personal consumption", a result of several elements, including steady real wage growth, higher pension transfers and incoming remittances.

The Eizg forecasted a slight deceleration of the GDP next year, with a projected 2.9% growth in 2019.

Unemployment will decrease from the current 9.9% to 8.8%, the Institute said. (ANSA).
