Serbia: more than 30 victims of domestic violence in 2018

Among them 25 women and seven men

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 15 AGO - Only since the beginning of 2018, more than 30 persons were killed in cases of domestic violence in Serbia, the Serbian daily Politika has reported. In total, 32 persons were killed. Of the total, 25 were women, seven men. According to the data published by Politika, in 2017 29 and two children died in domestic violence cases, while in 2016 the victims were 36.

Speaking about the 25 women killed since the beginning of the year in the Balkan country, Biljana Popovic, state secretary in the Serbia Interior Ministry, said that "it is alarming that only five out of 25 murdered women have reported violence before the murder." (ANSA).
