Eurostat:Bulgaria,Croatia with lowest individual consumption

Low levels also in Western Balkan countries

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 19 GIU - Bulgaria, Croatia and Hungary were the EU member countries with the lowest Actual Individual Consumption (AIC) per capita in 2017, according to Eurostat data released today.

With an EU average of 100, Bulgaria registered an AIC per capita of 55, Croatia of 61, Hungary of 63. Slightly over the results for Romania (68), Latvia (70), Estonia (72), Slovakia and Poland (76), Greece and Slovenia (77), Czech Republic (80) and Lithuania (88). Low levels of AIC were registered also in Montenegro (57), Serbia (46), Macedonia (41) and Albania (37).

The highest level in the EU was recorded in Luxembourg, 30% above the EU average. Germany and Austria were around 20% above, Eurostat said.

Eurostat noted that Actual Individual Consumption (AIC) is a measure of material welfare of households. (ANSA).
