COP24, Poland's air is the most polluted in the EU

(ANSA) - WARSAW, DECEMBER 7- Poland's air is the most polluted in the EU, according to Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, president of thePolishSupreme Audit Office, , who spoke today in Katowice, at the UN COP24 climate conference. Krakow has been listed as one of the most polluted cities in the country.

''From the controls we carried out, it is clear that among all the 28 EU member countries, Poland has the most polluted air'', Kwiatkowski told journalists. ''In the list of the 50 most polluted European cities, 36 are Polish. Therefore, fighting against polluted air should be a priority in Poland, but currently the resources allocated for this purpose do not meet the needs ''.

According to Kwaitkowski, ''in order to reduce smog we need to modernise heating systems and prevent the poor population from burning waste to heat homes''. (ANSA).
