Romania: new car registrations up 23% in 2018

But used cars still the most sold in important national market

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 16 GEN - The number of new passenger cars registered in Romania last year increased by 23% in a comparison with 2017, data from the Romanian car construction association ACAROM show, local media reported.

However, the number of registered used cars remains much higher than the one of new cars. According to ACAROM estimates, in 2018 474,000 used vehicles were registered in Romania, which represents a decrease of 9%, and 131,000 new units.

In terms of new car registrations, the most popular brand in the important Eastern European market remains Dacia, with almost 37,000 new vehicles (+23%), followed by Skoda (11,200, +22%) and Renault (10,700, +38%). (ANSA).
