A summit between the pope
and the heads of the world's bishops in the Vatican next month
will set out rules and practices for dealing with clerical sex
abuse, Vatican press office chief Alessandro Gisotti said
Wednesday.
For Pope Francis, Gisotti said, "it's fundamental that
returning to their countries, to their dioceses, the bishops who
have come to Rome will be aware of the rules to apply and
therefore take the necessary steps to prevent abuse, to
safeguard victims, and make sure that no case is covered up or
shelved".
Gisotti stressed that "it is right to underscore that the
Church is not at a starting point in the fight against abuse".
