Valpolicella wines, with Amarone as the protagonist, starred in Manhattan's East Village as part of the celebrative tour of the 50th anniversary of the denomination of the iconic red from the north-eastern Veneto region.
Celebrations have just wrapped up. The 'SeventyFifty House', one of New York's trendiest areas, hosted walk-around-tasting events with 120 selected operators among the city's top traders. And the so-called 'Grande Rosso' starred at wine-tasting events organized by the Consorzio Vini Valpolicella, the consortium of Valpolicella wines, together with the Ripasso della Valpolicella, which in the US continues to fascinate younger generations in particular. Indeed, according to a recent survey carried out by Wine Intelligence on behalf of Consorzio Vini Valpolicella, 15% of the US consumers polled said they knew the Verona area's denominations, in particular Amarone.
A reported 37% said they had drunk wines from the wine region over the past three months, in particular in California, New York and Florida.
